Recently, I was lucky enough to holiday (or “vacation” to my USA friends) with James on the Cote d’Azur in the South of France.
We had a really lovely week exploring the coastline on a road trip that took us from Nice, to Monaco and Cannes, then all along the spectacular coastline to Cassis and Marseille.
While we were away, I kept in touch with friends and colleagues via messenger and Facebook. A good friend of mine asked how I was feeling about returning to the UK and getting back to work – an activity she referred to as “Reality Bites”.
It’s an interesting metaphor on many levels and one which has got me thinking. How many of us blindly walk through our lives in the hope that life doesn’t “take a bite out of us”? When instead, we should be choosing to eat up life and create our own reality?
Yes, most of us have to go to work and we’re busy juggling many aspects of our lives on any given day. But the reality is…we have a choice. We can choose how we wish to view the world around us and what that world represents to us.
The saying “glass half full” is an oldie but a goodie and a lens through which you can apply most situations. Wayne Dyer said “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change”.
So my challenge to you is to ask yourself, what can YOU see differently in your current set of circumstances that may bring you a better feeling or result?
